    Application Scenarios

    Grid Protection & Fault Monitoring

Powered by RK3588 / RK3588J SoCs (heterogeneous architecture with 4 × Cortex-A76 + 4 × Cortex-A55), paired with a 6 TOPS NPU and Mali-G610 GPU—supports high-speed data processing, AI inference, and 8K audio/video encoding & decoding. Example: When a transmission line short is detected, the module rapidly uploads fault data via SFP+ to the station SCADA/higher-level system while simultaneously opening backplane relays to isolate the faulty circuit, then coordinates restoration once cleared.

    Precise Control of Converter Valves

During AC/DC conversion, converter valves are critical. Acting as the converter-valve controller, this module uses the computational power of the quad-core ARM LS1043A + ZYNQ 7Z100 to precisely time valve gating and commutation events. Example: In HVDC systems, the module communicates with other valve control boards over RS-485 to adjust valve states in real time according to system requirements—maintaining efficient, stable conversion while avoiding voltage swings and harmonic issues.

    Substation Automation System Integration

For centralized control and management, the module connects via three Gigabit Ethernet ports to other automation equipment (smart meters, protection relays, etc.). It collects device data, performs edge processing, and reports results back to supervisory systems through the low-speed fiber ST link. It also accepts higher-level commands and dispatches control signals via the backplane to other boards, enabling automated substation operation. Example: During normal operation it aggregates device telemetry, runs local analytics, sends summaries to the automation host via ST fiber, and executes remote commands by issuing backplane control signals to downstream modules.

    Technical Relevance

Low-speed Fiber ST Port: Optimized for stable transmission of routine grid state data (e.g., real-time voltage and current values). Fiber media provide strong immunity to electromagnetic interference from high-voltage equipment.

High-speed SFP+ & Gigabit Ethernet: SFP+ combined with three GigE ports supports millisecond-level data upload (e.g., high-resolution fault waveforms) and timely host command delivery, ensuring protection actions occur without delay.

Backplane Digital I/O & RS-485 Bus: Backplane digital signals enable immediate hardware actions (e.g., emergency trip), while RS-485 supports long-distance, multi-node communication with other cards (data-acquisition, drive modules), enabling coordinated system-level control.

Heterogeneous Compute Partitioning: The quad-core ARM LS1043A handles heavy data computation and protocol stacks; the ZYNQ 7Z100 implements flexible logic and real-time control. This separation prevents single-chip overloads and reduces the risk of system downtime, improving overall reliability.

Industrial Protocol & OS Support: The ARM LS1043A runs Linux-based systems and supports TCP/IP, Modbus and other industrial protocols, simplifying integration with SCADA and higher-level automation systems for data exchange and communications management.

Customizable FPGA Logic: The ZYNQ 7Z100’s FPGA fabric can be programmed to implement low-level timing and control for digital I/O and RS-485 interfaces, enabling precise coordination with other boards without additional peripheral chips—reducing integration complexity and cost.
